The Mirror of the Grazing Herd
Sonnet (English)
Upon the grassy plain the heifer stands,
The Man from Western shores beholds the prize.
He sees a feast prepared by loving hands,
Where steaks are served to charm his kinfolk's eyes.
The Dutchman turns his gaze with spirit mild,
To seek the creamy draught from nature's spring.
He craves the white elixir for his child,
And all the joy that milking pails can bring.
But he of Viet blood spies crimson bright,
And thinks of those who shape the public view.
He sees Opinion Shapers in the light,
A red brigade that paints the truth askew.
Thus in one beast diverse desires we find,
Reflected in the mirrors of the mind.
